MIILIONS of listeners heard a Swindon voice on
Radio Two's "Wake up to Wogan" programme
yesterday.
Fidelma Meehan, a member of the Bahá'í
Faith, presented the first of a series of four
"Pause for Thoughts" on the show, which
attracts around 2.5 million listeners every morning.
Fidelma, who works as the Bahá'í
Projects co-ordinator, has been writing and presenting
scripts for the past four years on Radio Two's
late night slots. She did her first presentation
on Terry Wogan's programme last October during
One World Week.
She said: "It's wonderful to be invited
back to do a short series for Pause for Thoughts
on such a popular show. The last time I was on
the programme, Terry was on holiday, so I'm looking
forward to meeting him and to sharing some of
the key teachings of the Bahá'í
Faith with such a large audience."
The thoughts forcus on some of the key principles
of the Bahá'í
Faith, such as the oneness of all religions, the
unity of humanity and the independent investigation
of Truth.
Fidelma added: "The central message of the
Bahá'í
Faith is unity. Bahá’u’lláh,
Founder of the Faith, taught that there is only
one God, that the humna race is one family and
that all the world's religions are one, representing
one changeless and eternal Faith of God, and expressions
of a single, unfolding Divine Plan."
Fidelma will present the other three broadcasts
on Radio Two on April 5, April 12 and April 19.
Fidelma has also been invited to do six Prayer
for the Day presentations on BBC Radio 4, and
these will begin on June 9.
