Bahá'ís to feature on TV this weekend

Evening Advertiser, Friday 18th June, 1999

Members of Swindon’s Bahá'í Faith will feature in a religious TV programme this weekend.

The group’s Tranquillity Zone, a project set up to ease stress in the community, will be shown on The Heaven and Earth Show at 9.30am on BBC1 on Sunday.

Bahá'í belief is the oneness of God, all religions, and humanity. The Tranquillity Zone was first piloted in the town last year and is now held on a regular basis. Soothing music is played in a candlelit setting during the 45-minute session and comforting words read out.

Fidelma Meehan, a member of the Swindon Bahá'ís, said: "The Tranquillity Zone has gone from strength to stregth. This service is helping hundreds of people discover that developing the spiritual side of life can be deeply enriching and empowering.

"This helps us to cope with everyday problems and stress."

The service is to be developed further afield among Bahá'ís living in Northern Ireland, Europe, New Zealand and Africa.
