Survey reveals that Swindon people
are plagued by stress

Evening Advertiser, Tuesday 27th February, 2001

Swindon is a stressed out town, according to a new survey. The survey was carried out by members of the faith group the Bahá'ís. It showed that 62 per cent of people find life quite stressful and one in 10 found it very stressful.

Work was the chief cause of stress for half of those people that were questioned. The Bahá'ís are aiming to offer a little relief from the strains of modern life with Tranquillity Zones.

The Zones feature soft cushions and scented candles, and got a thumbs up from local people, with 64 per cent expressing an interest in them with a view to using the Zones to relieve stress.

The Faith Was founded in the middle east in the 19th century. It stresses the unity of humanity and the unity of religion under one God. But some members have faced persecution in several countries where their beliefs are frowned upon.

For further information on the Bahá'ís or Tranquillity Zones call Fidelma Meehan at the Bahá'í Projects Office on (01793) 465715.
