An oasis in a busy town

Evening Advertiser, Friday 16th February, 2001

All kinds of people use the Tranquillity Zone to unwind.

Richard Farr, 33, a special needs advisor in the town centre, said he needed some solace in his hectic lifestyle.

He said: "This is somewhere I can come and think about my life and get things in perspective. I come as often as I can. It’s a chance to take time out with no phones ringing."

Retired Chris Pickstone, 54, said: "I’ve come a few times and it’s like stepping out of life for an hour. There are no distractions, no interruptions. It is an opportunity to relax totally."

Anne Sheppard, 56, from Stratton, is also retired. She said: "It’s like an oasis in the middle of a very busy world and very busy town."

Investments administrator Julia van Vliet, 26, said: "I’ve just had a baby so it’s great to come here and get away from it all."
