Members
of the Bahá'í Faith in Swindon celebrated
a special Holy Day – the birth of the founder
of their Faith, Bahá'u'lláh.
More than 50 Bahá'ís and their
friends gathered at the Upper Shaw Farm in West
Swindon for the occasion.
Fidelma Meehan, one of the members of the Faith,
said: "This occasion is a specially happy
time as we celebrate the birth of Bahá'u'lláh,
the Messenger of God for this age.
"The celebration started with a beautiful
devotional on the life and teachings of Bahá'u'lláh
and was followed by a social event.
"It was a wonderful occasion for all our
families and friends."
Bahá'u'lláh, a title meaning Glory
to God, was born into a noble family in Persia
and devoted himself from an early age to helping
the poor and needy.
In 1863 he announced that he was the Promised
One awaited by all the people of the world and
today there are more than six million Bahá'ís
worldwide.
His central teaching is unity – the oneness
of God, the oneness of religions and the oneness
of the human family.
