A familiar voice will be back on
the national airwaves at the weekend, when Swindon’s
Fidelma Meehan presents Prayer for the Day on
BBC Radio 4.
Fidelma, the town’s Bahá'í
Projects co-ordinator, has been writing and presenting
scripts for the past four years on BBC Radio 2’s
late night and early morning slots.
In April she presented three Pause
for Thought broadcasts on Radio 2’s Wake
up to Wogan.
Tim Pemberton, a producer in BBC
Religion, said: "Prayer for the Day starts
the morning for Radio 4.
"As such, it is an important
programme with a loyal following. We aim to bring
the best and freshest voices to the microphone."
The thoughts focus on some of the
key principles of the Bahá'í Faith,
such as the oneness of all religions, Bahá'u'lláh
as the Divine Physician for our time, the need
for spirituality in our lives and the unity of
humanity.
Fidelma added: "It’s
wonderful to have the opportunity to share the
beautiful message of Bahá'í Faith
on a national level.
"As a result of this I’ve
had very many positive responses from people all
over the country."
The broadcasts began on Saturday
morning at 5.43am on BBC Radio 4, and will be
transmitted every morning next week at the same
time.
