Tranquillity Zones
The
Swindon Youth Empowerment Project uses a specially
adapted form of the Tranquillity Zone, which
includes visualisation, relaxation, stories
and music, to help young people relax and
reflect. The youth are then ready for the
Discovery Zone, where some of the themes raised
in the Tranquillity Zone programme will be
explored more deeply. |

Discovery Zones
The Discovery Zone seeks to empower
participants to begin a process of self-discovery.
Each individual is skilfully led through a well-developed
educational programme. They are invited to view
themselves as potentially of great benefit to
themselves and society. Conversely, when this
potential is left undeveloped, the participants
begin to understand that this can lead to unhappiness,
personal harm and antisocial behaviour.
Positive qualities
such as kindness, joy, patience and wisdom are
highlighted and shown to be essential in our quest
for happiness.
Positive
human qualities such as kindness, joy, patience
and wisdom - often referred to as human virtues
- are highlighted and shown to be essential in our
quest for happiness. Through a range of stimulating
activities within a nurturing environment, participants
learn about their dual nature - their ability to
choose to do "good" or "bad".
Further activities are designed to touch a chord
within the core of each participant to help awaken
a desire to develop the inherent "good"
qualities and leave behind unrewarding "bad"
characteristics.
