What is a Bahá'í?

"Let those who meet you know, without your proclaiming the fact, that you are indeed a Bahá'í. Put into practice the Teaching of Bahá'u'lláh, that of kindness to all nations. Do not be content with showing kindness in words alone, let your heart burn with loving kindness for all who may cross your path."

What is a Bahá'í?

A Bahá'í is a follower of the Teachings of Bahá'u'lláh (1817-1892), who Bahá'ís believe to be the latest in the line of Messengers of God. Bahá'u'lláh's son (‘Abdu’l-Bahá) says:
"To be a Baha'i simply means to love all the world; to love humanity and to try to serve it; to work for universal peace and universal brotherhood."

The central theme of Bahá'u'lláh's Teachings is unity - unity of religions and unity of the human race. Among other key principles of the Bahá'í Faith are: the equality of men and woman; the elimination of the extremes of wealth and poverty; the independent investigation of truth; universal education; the harmony of science and religion and universal peace.
