Study Circles

What is a Study Circle?

A Study Circle, is where groups of people gather together to discuss themes which help us discover “gems of inestimable value” hidden within us. The book that will be used as a basis for discussion is called: Reflections on the Life of the Spirit. It consists of three units.
The first is Understanding the Bahá’í Writings, which helps us to apply spiritual principles in our lives.
Prayer is the second unit, which helps us think about prayer and meditation as a source of spiritual nourishment.
The third unit is Life and Death, which helps us view life as extending beyond our material existence and continuing into the spiritual worlds.

What are the benefits?

Participants make new friends as they meet people who share their interest in exploring spiritual matters. This experience can lead to deeper spiritual insights and an increasing awareness of the purpose of life.
Study Circles provide an opportunity for people who may have no religious commitment but who are interested in exploring the spiritual dimension of life.

What happens in a Study Circle?

Sessions are usually held in the evenings on a weekly basis, possibly in the home of the facilitator, or another suitable venue.
The facilitator’s role is to ensure that the atmosphere is one in which everyone is free to explore concepts and find their own answers. Groups usually consist of approximately six or ten people.
The course is free of charge, but the book costs £4.95.

'Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures and enable mankind to benefit therefrom.'

How do I join a Study Circle

Please contact the Bahá'í Projects Office for details of the next introductory evening, where you will meet the facilitator and other people who are considering a Study Circle. If you are interested, you can then join the Study Circle.
