Swindon Bahá'í
Community holds occasional Learning Weekends that
attract visitors from all over the world. The focus
is community growth, where we learn about the requirements
of growth, and how we can make our own community
projects take off.
An important theme of the weekend is learning to
serve the needs of our community, and with that
motive, combined with selfless action, we will succeed
in our efforts. From small beginnings in 1998, the
Swindon Bahá'í Community has seen
its own initiatives grow and develop, and attract
a great deal of public interest. The Tranquillity
Zone has seen thousands of people pass through its
doors, the Youth Empowerment Project continues to
work with a growing number of youth groups and schools,
and the Spirituality Course at Swindon College continues
to attract new students term after term.
These projects have
all been initiated in response to the Vision of
the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís
of Swindon, which is to help "raise spiritual
awareness" among the people of the town. The
programme of the Learning Weekend encourages others
to follow this model of seeking to serve the spiritual
needs of the people around them.
