The
Bahá'í International Community is
an accredited non-governmental organisation which
has long worked closely with the United Nations,
supporting many of its goals and programmes. Its
purpose is to promote the concept of a just system
of international governance which would lay the
foundations for a lasting and universal peace.
This vision
of international peace and prosperity, embracing
all the nations and peoples of the Earth, was first
called for by Bahá'u'lláh over a hundred
years ago. Bahá'u'lláh’s statement
that ‘The earth is but one country and mankind
its citizens’ embodies the Bahá'í
ideal of world citizenship. |
