Is the Bahá'í Faith
a religious organisation?

The Bahá'í Faith is the second most widespread religion in the world, according to the Encyclopaedia Britannica. It is independent of any other world faith. There are thousands of Bahá'ís in the UK, and millions across the world. The Bahá'í Faith embraces every culture, class, tribe, nationality and race. Bahá'ís believe in the oneness of humankind, and in all their activities seek to promote this vision of unity and global citizenship. There are no clergy in the Bahá'í Faith and Bahá'ís govern themselves through a unique democratic structure. If you are interested in learning more about Bahá'í beliefs, we recommend visiting www.bahai.org .

The vision of the Bahá'ís of Swindon is to help serve the spiritual needs of the people of the town. In the year 2000, Swindon's city status bid was criticised by the Home Office for being "too materialistic" and lacking the most important element of all - the spirit. Swindon will only truly shine and prosper if we acknowledge the spiritual dimension in human nature and make the moral, emotional, physical and spiritual development of every citizen a priority.

The projects started by the Swindon Bahá'ís have already begun to serve these needs and are proving to be an essential part of life in Swindon.
